El Mago Mage Cigar Crafted For OGT Cigars’ 7th Anniversary

The El Mago Mage is a cigar I keep going back to. I have said this before, but on some level, I am a little biased. I have to be. This cigar was chosen as our 7th Anniversary blend. At the same time, it wouldn’t be our Aniversario if I didn’t believe it was that good. The El Mago Mage is a limited-edition blend crafted exclusively for Oak Glen Tobacconist. It is a blast of flavor, masterfully balanced, and delivers a rich, full flavor. It’s most definitely on my top cigars of the year list. It has also made it onto the Cigar Ranker List, a crowdsourced list, from Cigar Dojo!

This cigar is a 6×50 Box Pressed Toro. This special drop celebrates seven years of Oak Glen Tobacconist. The label, the blend, the entire project reflects our journey from California to North Carolina. Huge shout-out to everyone who has supported us through the years; this cigar was created for you!

In terms of the blend: We went with a darker, textured San Andres leaf because it brings the spice and sweetness we were looking for. San Andres has such a unique quality, and it’s been on some of our favorite projects. While this cigar is heavy-hitting, it is also balanced and nuanced. Underneath is a Sumatra binder. This was chosen out of Nick Fusco, owner of El Mago, and my love for Sumatra tobacco and the diverse ways it can be used. Finally, underneath are rich, full Nicaraguan tobaccos bringing the flavor and body of our favorite blends.

On the first light, intense notes of black pepper spice, chocolate brownie, leather, whiskey barrel spice, earth, charred oak, fig, and light sweetness emerge. One of El Mago’s signature expressions is a luscious, juicy quality that makes your palate salivate. It’s an incredible note underneath the flavors you experience, a quality I don’t often find in other blends. The El Mago Mage LE is a full-flavored, full-bodied, medium-plus strength blend that’s bold and refined, complex and rich.
