Dunbarton Tobacco And Trust Umbagog Bronzeback 5×48

“Pronounced “Oom-BAH-gog” is a perfect cigar for my time upon her waters. It is robust and durable, designed to endure the rigors of outside activity with its thick broadleaf capa and easy burning liga. It is an honest, hardworking cigar that is meant to be smoked, chewed upon and lit however many times you wish.” But there is a new kid on the block! Introducing Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust Umbagog Bronzeback; the newest and even bolder Broadleaf in the Umbagog line! At the PCA Trade Show 2024, many people were talking about this fantastic cigar. To me, it’s like taking the original blend and turning up the dial on strength and flavor (And slightly more pepper, HURRAY!). Made up of Nicaraguan binder and fillers, the Bronzeback follows the same pattern of a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, but this one is a little different! Umbagog Bronzeback uses a 2LS Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. What the heck does that mean? To understand it best, I am going to let Steve Saka take the reins.

“’2LS’ is a designation for the leaves typically situated between the 1/3 to 1/2 mark on the stalk,” Says Saka. “They sit beneath what is called the ‘Mediums. This section of the plant produces a wrapper with a different hue and flavor profile…rather than be that those classic sweet, earthy, and cocoa notes exhibited by broadleaf, the 2LS leaves typically give the smoker a slightly less sweet, but significantly more peppery smoking experience.”

The Dunbarton Umbagog Bronzes back is only produced in one size; a 5×48 Rothschild. They say Rothschild, but to me, it is like a thinner Robusto. This cigar really wowed me. For the quality and the price, not to mention rich flavor, this cigar is a BANGER! In terms of tasting notes, Bronzeback has a spicy start to it. The pepper Skaka mentioned is noticeable, but not at all overbearing. I detect pepper up front, along with cocoa flavors, earth, leather, a delightful toasted bread, a little more earth, and a lingering sweetness. Overall, I am so happy to have this now available at Oak Glen Tobacconist. The price is amazing, and just as it’s previous iteration, Umbagog Bronzeback is offered in ten count bundles. Do yourself a favor and check this blend out. I think it is special.
