Cigar Clowns Aftermath 2023

The official Cigar Clowns release for 2023 is here! Introducing the Cigar Clowns Aftermath. This rustic cigar is wrapped in a very textured Broadleaf wrapper. What type of Broadleaf? That remains a mystery. We do know that there is Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco in this cigar. While the official release says a 6×50 Vitola, it looks more like a 5.5×54. This is a very exciting cigar for the Clowns, representing their first steps into a new world of blending and the significance of building relationships with blenders. While most previous releases have concentrated on Nicaraguan tobacco, the Clowns have begun to branch out to other countries.

According to Ray from the Cigar Clowns, he says, “This cigar is going to taste a little different. It’s not that blast of pepper and strength. There is more nuance; there are different flavors; sweetness, white pepper, leather, cocoa, more of those quintessential Dominican flavors. It pairs well with coffee, and you know me, I am a coffee guy.”

As they have had time to rest, the Cigar Clowns Aftermath has had the opportunity to mature into something very special. Notes of white pepper at the start, then cocoa, coffee bean, and light caramel transition within the first third. Savory sweetness, leather, and more coffee follow while maintaining a medium strength profile. I agree with Ray; Coffee would work well with this cigar. I also think Yellow Rose Bourbon would play nice.
