Aganorsa Elixir by Aganorsa Leaf and OGT Cigar Society

Finally, after long last, the search is over! It is no secret we here at OGT Cigars enjoy Aganorsa Leaf. Nearly every day, my first cigar has something to do with Aganorsa; whether it is their brand or another using their tobacco, there is something about Corojo 99 tobacco that pops with a good cup of coffee. Their Validacion Corojo, the Foundation Gueguense Macho Raton, Black Star Line Dark War Witch, or even HVC Serie A each offer a complex peppery, sweet salivation that is a dream to pair with coffee. However, as I smoked through my favorites, I hunted for a stronger blend. Something that embodies the complexities and balance of these cigars along with a punchier, medium-plus strength behind it. Well, I have found it.

Speaking with Terence Reilly of Aganorsa Leaf, we have worked together to bring all the members of the OGT Cigar Society something extra special. After smoking through several blends, I discovered something special in a 6×48 ‘slim’ Toro. According to Terence, this cigar has been aging in their vault for two years, giving time for these tobaccos to marry together and smooth out, but hold firm to a blast of flavor and body. After smoking a few, I was completely hooked! It has been difficult not to go through all of them. Encased in a textured, dark Corojo 99 wrapper over a Corojo 99 and Criollo 98 double binder, and fillers from Jalapa, Estelli, and Condega, this slim vitola packs a punch.

In terms of flavor, this cigar is a whirlwind of flavor with intense transitions. At light up, there is a definite spice and sweetness at play. Rustic cedar and toasted Cheerios follow. As the cigar continues, I notice a sharp citrus, nuttiness, caramel, and lingering baking spice. The toasty element, along with mesquite and sweetness, follow through the cigar. This new release is something I have been hoping to offer for over a year, and finally, the day is here. I am in love with this blend, and I suspect many will call it a favorite; we call it Aganorsa Elixir.

It comes from the classic plot point in a story’s arc. In the Hero’s Journey, the portion that comes after the dramatic climax of the story is called Return With the Elixir. That’s after the protagonist defeats the Antagonist and the story’s resolution comes to a head. After a long search, this cigar is just that, a fantastic Elixir.
