If there is one brand that deserves more recognition, it is Stallone Cigars. Constantly, they are the cigars I hear people say, “Why don’t more people carry these?” or “How come I haven’t heard about them before?” My answer – I don’t know. As I have stated in other posts, they are the brand that consistently smokes above their price point. Coming in as low as Five Dollars for some lines and as high as Twelve Fifty on others, Stallone Cigars has a profile for everyone. Owner and Blender Tony Barrios has worked his magic not only on the price but on the cigars as well. Within the Stallone portfolio, Barrios has blends using tobaccos like Broadleaf, San Andres, Habano, Connecticut, Sumatra, and Corojo. Originally, Stallone Cigars launched six different blends known as the Cowboy Series. Since then, he has expanded the line into limiteds and extensions.
Earlier this year, Stallone blended a Connecticut Broadleaf exclusively for the OGT Cigar Society Membership. The Stallone Silver Blaze featured a dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over a double binder from Esteli and Jalapa. Inside the fillers are Criollo 98, Corojo 99 , Corojo 2012, and Habano 2000. This cigar had been blended and aged for nearly a year before its release. The flavors on this cigar were insane: a swarm of cocoa up front, roasted nuts, touches of leather, light spice, espresso, and a consistent creamy center with hints of sweetness. The members of the OGT Cigar Society all seemed to love the cigar’s complexity and nuance.
Due to Tony Barrios’ talent and meticulous blending style, I am honored to announce our Anniversary cigar is likewise blended by Stallone Cigars. More details will be coming about the Stallone OGT Aniversario. I am super excited to have such a great cigar maker spotlighting our anniversary cigar. While there is a signature flavor from Stallone Cigars, and they all come from Nicaragua, the subtle differences between the blends and the satisfying construction of each make Stallone stand out above others. As Tony says, “Blended by the heart to be smoked by the soul.”
