Powstanie Cigars started the SBC series in 2016, and each time, as I mentioned, it is released in a 5.5 x 46 corona gorda size. This year’s version boasts five countries — Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, and Nicaragua — and it’s a first here, too: Powstanie has confirmed Dominican tobacco in an SBC blend. That leaf is piloto mejorado ligero, used in the filler alongside three tobaccos from the 2021 crop. And like every SBC before it, this one was handmade at Fábrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño S.A., keeping the series rooted in the same factory that built its reputation. What really sets the SBC series apart isn’t just what’s in the blend; it’s what the release is actually about. According to co-owner Mike Pospiech, each box carries the following message. “It’s important to recognize that great accomplishments require the team to be successful.
