Paul Stulac Cigars and The Paul Stulac Blue Lightning Sky Sumatra

One of my favorite releases at the beginning of this year has been the Paul Stulac Blue Lightning Sky. This dark Sumatra brings together so many things I love about Stulac cigars and even goes further. From depth of flavor to body and strength, this is a cigar you should not miss! The Paul Stulac Blue Lightning Sky is one of those cigars that immediately stand out once you light it up. The Blue Lightning Sky cigar continues the brand’s color series and delivers a really nice balance of flavor, smoothness, and complexity. It uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and fillers, giving it a medium-plus strength profile with plenty of depth while still being easy to enjoy, whether you’re a seasoned smoker or just getting into the brand.

The story behind the Stulac Blue Lightning Sky began when it first appeared as a quiet release, the Katman Edition Toro, created as a tribute to cigar blogger Philip “Katman” Kohn. That version didn’t last long—once people got their hands on it, it sold out quickly and built a strong following. Because of that response, the blend was brought back as a full production cigar, made at Las Villas Cigars under Guillermo Peña. What started as a small tribute release turned into one of the more talked-about cigars in the Stulac lineup.

The wrapper from an Ecuadorian Sumatra leads with natural sweetness and a little cinnamon; at the same time, the binder and fillers of Nicaraguan origin provide structure, body, and depth. You will find a combination of smoked cedar, soft pepper, and a creamy note that lingers in the finish. Blue Lightning Sky Toro, medium in strength but nearly aggressive in flavor! A Blast of pepper starts it off in the first third, and the transition to a smoother sweetness leads the charge to the second. The flavors are layered yet effortless to enjoy, thus polished, balanced, and ready to be smoked any time of day.

As I mentioned, this is one of my top picks from Paul Stulac Cigars. This is a must-try if you are a fan of his work or even Sumatra cigars. The Paul Stulac Blue Lightning Sky is an incredible addition to his portfolio. It’s quickly becoming a go-to for many and fits just about any time of day. Whether you already enjoy Stulac cigars or you’re trying one for the first time, this is definitely one worth picking up. The Paul Stulac Blue Lightning Sky is available at Oak Glen Tobacconist.
