The first milestones of your life are always great with food, and one of the standout ones is pancakes. Free-flowing syrup without any restraint and grandpa-is-telling-you-stories style, while you’re having your first bites. There is an overwhelming sweetness in such experiences that contrasts and overwrites the original source of sweetness in your life when you were a child, and the very products you consume for that sweetness are never enough. When the very first Pancakes & Syrup cigar was released, its fame spread quickly, and the cult classic was born immediately. Yet, this thing was never considered to have an endpoint. There was one lingering thought: more maple. Not the synthetic sweetness or the flavored shortcuts, but real, complex maple character, organically extracted from tobacco through its natural processes. This means going after exceptionally rare leaves, a longer fermentation process, re-application of aged tobacco, and a blender’s frenzy-level precision. Initially intended as a full Ezra Zion release, owing to a tobacco shortage in the batch, it became a micro-batch, and so Maple Mayhem turned out to be even more special.
Nomad Pancakes and Syrup Maple Mayhem Toro lifts the veil on the first draw. In terms of strength, it lands in the full-bodied and medium-plus to the upper full-strength range. Built with 6-12-year-aged tobaccos and finished with a stunning 12-year-aged Criollo 98 wrapper, the cigar firstly offers maple syrup, caramel, milk chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla bean, nutmeg, cedarwood, and heavy cream in the first third. The second third evolves into butter melting, cinnamon stick, toasted almond, clove, chocolate chips, graham cracker, and raw cane sugar. The last third sees the strong finish with white cake frosting, cocoa, black pepper, rum barrel, custard, toasted marshmallows, and fresh-brewed coffee. The identities of the binder and fillers remain shrouded in secrecy, quite understandably so.
Since only 380 cigars were made, Nomad Pancakes and Syrup Maple Mayhem Toro is currently offered at OGT Cigars in very limited numbers.
