After a long, long wait- nearly two years, the third and final installment of the Chaffiot Collection X OGT Cigars Rare Breeds series is being released. This took some time, but let me tell you, it was worth the wait! Typical OGT Cigars fashion, we weren’t going to just put out any cigar in the market. What is Rare Breeds? Chaffiot and OGT Cigars started this very special project back in November 2023! Rare Breeds is a trilogy of cigars that showcase the craftsmanship and artistry behind cigar making. Carefully selecting three distinct blends, each cigar was released as a special vitola, featuring unique tobaccos that represent Nicaraguan cigar-making in a dynamic, complex presentation. Each featured the art of Andrew Drazin, the creator of the OGT Monsters art found in our stickers, as well as the band on the Renfield Halloween exclusive, and several others. The first was the Two Tone, a San Andres / Corojo Barber Pole and the second Mr. Pennstripe, a Pennsylvania Broadleaf. That leaves the third, Bruno the Butcher!

The Chaffiot X OGT Cigars Bruno the Butcher is a heavy-hitting, dark, robust blend that brings power and balance to the trilogy. This 5×56 Box-Pressed Robusto is wrapped in a dark San Andres Maduro wrapper over choice Nicaraguan binder and fillers. The wrapper is dark, very dark. The flavor is exceptional- when you light this ‘puppy’ up, you are immediately greeted with a blast of pepper spice, primarily on the retro, followed by bread-like sweetness, cocoa, and hints of herbal elements. Further notes of dark chocolate and espresso take over with a very notable star anise flavor. In terms of my personal palate, this medium plus strength, full flavored, full bodied killer is my favorite of the bunch.
