The HDA Cataclysm Habano is a representation of brotherhood, strength, and artisanal skill. This cigar is the very essence of the brand’s origin story—Hermanos De Armas, which translates as “Brothers in Arms”, the name given by veteran creators Andray and Zack to their product. Their commitment to provide great flavor, impeccable construction, and pay tribute to the brotherhood that came out of the service is what the entire journey of this cigar was all about. In the wake of their bond, Andray and Zack, both veterans of different military branches, found a common cause in the creation of HDA. While abroad in Iraq in 2008, and after his deteriorating days of combat, Andray found smoking a cigar his only solace. After long, exhausting days, lighting up a cigar with his fellow soldiers provided a moment of peace and camaraderie. That ritual inspired him to build something lasting once his Army career came to a close. Partnering with Zack, an Air Force veteran and lifelong cigar lover, the two set out to create a brand that honors the brotherhood of service while delivering uncompromising quality and flavor. In this way, their cigar offerings became rugged, refined, and rooted in tradition.

The Cataclysm Habano is a powerful blend that still manages to maintain both aspects of the tobacco: strength and sophistication. The wrapper is a beautifully shiny and smooth Ecuadorian Habano leaf, while the filler consists of Nicaraguan tobaccos from Ometepe and Condega, thus providing for a well-rounded and balanced smoke. Right from the start, we’re treated to a burst of earth and spice from the Ometepe leaf, layered with pepper, roasted nuts, and a hint of espresso from the Condega filler. As the smoke develops, subtle notes of cedar and a natural sweetness round out the profile. At the same time, the Cataclysm is a rather complex one, yet it manages to be nicely balanced, which is why it doesn’t overpower the palate and is a cigar able to command attention.

The HDA Cataclysm Habano Toro (6×54) is now available at Oak Glen Tobacconist along with the rest of HDA cigars’ portfolio.
