dec·o | /ˈdekō/ : The term “art deco” refers to a specific art and design style that emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, characterized by geometric shapes, luxurious materials, and a focus on elegance and sophistication. 

I am so excited for this month’s drop for the OGT Cigar Society club. When I talk about cigars we have been on the hunt for, this not only fits that category, but I have been trying to achieve it for several years. Aganorsa Leaf boasts some of the best Nicaraguan tobacco in the world. Being the biggest Nicaraguan supplier, they have perfected their Corojo and Criollo strains like no one else. While we have featured their cigars before, we have never been able to land a Maduro version. However, this is not just any Maduro cigar. This new blend features a very textured and luxurious San Andres Maduro from Mexico. The combination of this special wrapper over prime Nicaraguan fillers creates such an incredible dessert-like elegance that it’s unmatched by what I have had from them.

The Decō/Dence is a 6×52 box-pressed Maduro Torpedo. It has been resting in the Aganorsa vault for nearly a year, and boy, is it ready! The patient time we have given this cigar has allowed its incredible combination of tobaccos to marry to perfection. While there are hints and moments of peppery spice, for the most part Decō/Dence is hearty, dense, and sweet, much like a dark chocolate or a black coffee exhibits those qualities. A long finish of espresso, earth, dark chocolate, and deep sweetness caps the smoke on this profile.

Where does the name come from? Decadence is spelled with an ‘A’, right? There are two sides to the inspiration. This brilliant blend nods to the glamour and roar of the 1920s; classy and extravagant, with hints of a dark depth underneath. We also operate in a 1913 train car, so the homage is preexisting. The flavor profile is so rich, refined, and… decadent, it’s an entirely new experience. Once finished, I am ready for another one, much like a box of chocolates!
