The newest brand to arrive at Oak Glen Tobacconist, Jake Wyatt Cigar Co. is a Dominican Republic based company showcasing artistry and flavor throughout their portfolio. From the striking Black and White labels and the unique leaf work over the wrapper, Jack Wyatt Cigars have a visually stunning lineup. One of my favorite blends is the Jake Wyatt Fourth Dimension, particularly in the Toro and Corona sizes. One signature technique of the company is to put on an accented tobacco leaf in a stripe pattern both at the foot and head of the cigar. It adds a touch of flavor change and an awesome look to it. The Fourth Dimension features a candela leaf at top and bottom.
According to the owner Neil Garcia, he states, “For two decades our individual journeys have encompassed the world of professional baseball & firefighting. This has brought us to the launch of our shared passion, Jake Wyatt Cigar Co. named after each of our sons – Jake & Wyatt. Each box of our core line will contain 22 cigars signifying the lineage of three generations of baseball players wearing jersey number 22.”
The Jake Wyatt Fourth Dimension features a mid-color Rosado Habano, with touches of Candela leaf. Underneath is a binder and fillers from Nicaragua. The Dominican tobacco in conjunction with the Rosado wrapper, offers a unique, full flavored experience. The Fourth Dimension Toro feels a touch more bolder to me. The cigar is also available in four other sizes; Corona, Gordo, Robusto, Lancero, and Belicoso.
In terms of flavor notes, light up brings leather, earth, and touches of light spice. As it burns through the grassy Candela, further notes of toasted nuts, sweet leather, earth, medium roast coffee beans, and light sweetness follow. I detect a little cream as well. I found the cigar to ramp up a bit as it burned through. Overall, this is an excellent mild to medium strength cigar, offering a rich Dominican experience. This is a great anytime-of-the-day cigar and simply a dream when paired with coffee. The whole brand is centered around the concept of flavor and less strength, and I feel this is translated well in the Jake Wyatt Fourth Dimension.
