OGT Bleak Midwinter 2 Cigar St. Patrick’s Day Exclusive 2024

Drops Friday, March 8th at 7pm CA time/10pm est.

In the Bleak Midwinter. The return of the OGT favorite is here! Last year marked the first time we dropped the Bleak, and it was met with overwhelming success. This year we had to have it return, but slight tweaking. The OGT Bleak Midwinter 2 brings so many things from the original while featuring a few differences. The name is derived from an old hymn written by Christina Rossetti in 1872 about the event of Christ’s birth. It is also what is recited when one of the brothers from the show Peaky Blinders dies in the line of combat. The reference to the Blinders is where most of our inspiration comes from, having roots from Ireland. We have been working on Bleak Midwinter 2 since last year, and I am excited to share it with everyone.

Bleak Midwinter 2 is exclusively released through OGT. Much like last year’s, this is a very limited run and unfortunately not enough were produced for the OGT Cigar Society. The vitola is a dynamic, 5×54 Robusto Torpedo, or as we like to call it, a 5×54 bullet. In terms of the blend, it features a dark, oily Nicaraguan Maduro Hybrid sourced from AJ Fernandez. Underneath are a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The bottom is capped with a Candela closed foot. It not only adds a flare visually, but an extra layer of flavor when it transitions to that Maduro Wrapper. Who is the blender? That is the mystery. There is some information to be had, and if one was to follow the breadcrumbs, perhaps one could figure it out. But I think it is much more intriguing to let the source remain silent, don’t you?

In terms of flavor notes, right out the gate comes a burst of cinnamon, white pepper, cream, grassiness, and light sweetness. That Candela comes to life with the stronger fillers. It continues to the Maduro wrapper notes of leather, espresso, vegetal sweetness, light cinnamon, brown sugar, and earthy tones. Somewhere between the second and the final third a pleasant cocoa powder comes through. The draw on this cigar consistently is amazing, making an effortless pull and an overwhelmingly satisfying production of smoke. Overall the flavor and body coat the palate and produce a medium plus strength profile. This cigar continues to get better with age and I am supper excited to share this 5×54 bullet with all of you! The return of this beloved blend is almost here and it is a BANGER!!!
