Big Sky Cigars Bitterroot Habano 6×54

The bitterroot river is one of the best fly fishing spots in West Montana. It is also the name of Big Sky Cigars’ Habano. Big Sky has two Habanos from their portfolio, the Madison and Bitterroot. Bitterroot is a 6×54 Nicaraguan beauty with a kick of strength while maintaining an excellent balance of flavor. Don’t let the white band fool you into a false sense of mellow strength; using some of the best tobacco in Nicaragua, Big Sky offers something special to the new cigar lover and the seasoned aficionado.

Owner of Big Sky Cigars Brandon Marsh offers this statement about the Bitteroot Habano: “One can find few spots in the wilderness where the fishing is so good, they don’t need to pack any food for the trip. The Bitterroot River is one of those spots. The renowned Bitterroot River is a blue-ribbon trout fishery flowing 84 miles north through the picturesque Bitterroot and Sapphire Mountains ending in Missoula. Our Bitterroot cigar is designed to honor such a rare fishery. Wrapped in a Habano leaf with a San Andreas binder with filler from Nicaragua. The Bitterroot has tasting notes of cedar, roasted nuts, caramel, and baking spices. As wholesome as catching the hatch and pulling a trophy trout from the Bitterroot’s transparent waters.”

I would further note if you retrohale at all, the beginning third has a pleasant spice that adds to the many layers of this Habano. Complexity and flavor are the dominant traits of this cigar, while adding a strength that lets you know it is there but never overwhelms you. I would suggest pairing a caramel latte if you want to bring out more of the sweetness or maybe a black coffee to taste more of the earthy, wood components.
