The second drop in the lineup in the Privada Wes Anderson Film Series is here! The first release, the W.A. Fireworks cigar was an homage to Anderson’s first film Bottle Rocket. The wrapper, a medium Nicaraguan Habano, offered a long duration in the department of smoking time. Hints of sweetness and spice carried a host of flavors like nuttiness, earth, and cedar woods. This new drop promises a different experience from AJ Fernandez. Brian Desind and Clark Thorton of Privada Cigar Club and LCA Cigars had the following to announce:
“As the second installment in the ten-part W.A. series, Academia takes inspiration from
Anderson’s second feature-length film, Rushmore. This 6×50 Nicaraguan puro featuring a
double Claro wrapper is certainly a different smoking experience from the series’ first release,
W.A. Fireworks. However, in the arc of this ten-part series, W.A. Academia offers everything
you could hope for from this story’s second chapter.”
As stated, the wrapper is a double Claro, a rare tobacco to see released, perhaps even rarer from AJ Fernandez. Claro tobacco or ‘clear’ tends to have a golden, light hue to the shade. When the tobacco is double, it almost appears green in color. This isn’t the process of fermentation, but the tobacco itself. AJ always has something special up his sleeve, and the W.A. Academia LCA Plus appears to be no exception. This is something I enjoy about Privada and when they team up with master blenders like AJ, they create out-of-the-box cigars with amazing flavor in varying strengths! This one is not to be missed!
