Released in four different viotlas and boxes of 10, the Siempre Sun grown is something truly special in the Dapper Cigar portfolio. This dark oily cigar reminded me almost like a broadleaf in presentation. It’s a rare thing to see a Sumatra wrapper that showcases such a presence. And with the beauty of the leaf, encased by the striking colors of orange and gold, this stick’s presentation sets the bar for me. The binder is Connecticut broadleaf, which I think adds to the creaminess. Fillers are predominantly Nicaragua with a small amount of Honduras.
On the foot and dry draw, there is a decent amount of sweetness and earth. On first light a pastry sweetness that is most prominent. The mixture of earth and wood transitions with hints of pepper spice on the finish. Into the second third, the bready flavor remains and the pepper dies down. Overall it’s a complex stick, one that lands somewhere in the medium-plus strength point.
Overall, construction and ash are on point, and the transitions are moderate but definitely noticeable. Siempre Sun Grown by Dapper Cigar is one to put in the rotation. It’s difficult not to.
