Crowned Heads Coroneta Habano and Maduro

This has been a big year for Crowned Heads Cigars. They have had big releases, and we are not even halfway through half the year! With Yellow Rose going national, Mil Dias Maduro, Blood Medicine, and now the new Crowned Heads Coroneta Maduro and Coroneta Habano. This is a special one because Jon Huber didn’t just create one blend but two. Both cigars come from two different factories, utilizing the strength and tobacco from each one.

The Crowned Heads Coroneta Habano is crafted at Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. (NACSA). This blend uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, which Crowned Heads is no stranger to. Underneath the cover leaf lies a Nicaraguan binder and fillers. Strength level is in a medium category, with flavor and body being full.

The Crowned Heads Coroneta Maduro is made at Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr.’s Dominican factory, now known as Casa Carillo. The Maduro counterpart features an oily-looking San Andres Maduro wrapper over an Ecuadorian Connecticut seed with mixed fillers from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Pennsylvania. This blend is a bit stringer, around medium to full. The body and flavor are full.

According to Jon Huber, he says, “The concept of simultaneously introducing one brand in two expressions from two different houses is something entirely first-time for us. The Habano version from NACSA was actually final and production ready back in the Spring of 2022, but we decided to hold it back. Ultimately, we felt so strongly about the Coroneta brand that we tapped the ‘Godfather of Boutique Cigars,’ aka Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, to partner with us on developing the maduro version. I think the Coroneta brand achieves what we excel at, which is, seamlessly blending tradition and history with premium modernity.”

Both blends are released in the same sizes:

Crowned Heads Coroneta Maduro/Habano Earl 5×52
Crowned Heads Coroneta Maduro/Habano Duke 5.5×54
Crowned Heads Coroneta Maduro/Habano Baron 6×56

Due to Memorial Day Weekend, the Crowned Heads Coroneta Maduro will ship on Tuesday, May 28th. The Habano hasn’t reached the Crowned Heads HQ yet. For any Crowned Heads Fan, this is a big drop. From excellent factories like NACSA and Carillo, these blends were highlights of the recent PCA trade show!
