The newest line to hit the market from Espinosa cigars is here; Espinosa Sumatra. Within their core line from La Zona Factory, Espinosa has a Connecticut, their La Crema, a Habano, and now the newest blend a Sumatra. This a is striking difference not only with the use of Sumatra but also in appearance. I mean, who will miss the deep purple label? I sort of dig it. According to Erik Espinosa, Owner and Blender of Espinosa Cigars, he says, “This is just another example of us finding the right cigar to fill a void in our portfolio. It’s right in my wheelhouse, nutty but with the spice note I love.” Espinosa cigars are known for their spice and ‘in-your-face-flavors’ but having a good balance to them, never harsh.
The Espinosa Sumatra features a medium colored Sumatra wrapper from Ecuador. Underneath, is a binder and fillers from Nicaragua. It is rolled at the La Zona facotory, Espinosa’s factory in Nicaragua. The Director of Espinosa Cigars operations, Hector Alfonso, says, “Unlike the Laranja Azulejo or the Knuckle Sandwich Maduro, this has its own distinct and unique flavor profile. This is a great cigar for us to start off 2024.”
The Espinosa Sumatra is released in three sizes, a 5×52 Robusto, 6×54 Toro, and a 6×60 Gordo. Oak Glen Tobacconist just received the Toro size in stock. Now shipping in twenty count boxes, the Espinosa Sumatra is a great addition to the portfolio, falling into the medium strength, medium plus bodied range. If you want to try something that is a notch up in power from the Connecticut, this is a perfect place to go, with rich notes of spice, nuttiness, woods, earth, and light sweetness.
