Big Sky Blackfoot Cigar

Big Sky Cigars are mostly known for being from Montana, and having exceptional blends from Nicaragua. Almost anyone can find a cigar that their level in terms of strength and body. The unique aspect about their brand; they only release their blends in one size. If you find a cigar you enjoy, it is only released in that size. I kind of like that to a degree, because you get the sense of what the blender intended. Their most recent release is a monster of a Maduro, coming in at a 6×54. This is the Big Sky Blackfoot. Unlike their previous releases, this cigar has more inflections from the Dominican Republic. Being blended by Chico Rivas, it has is craftsmanship all over it. He is known for doing exceptional work contracting for other brands. Hands down, I think this is Chico’s best work I have tried so far.

As stated, much like the Bitterroot Habano in their portfolio, Big Sky Blackfoot is a 6×54 Toro. It boasts a dark San Andres Maduro wrapper (and I mean dark.) The oil sheen from the wrapper is gorgeous. That lies over a binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic. This time, Big Sky took a turn and had it sourced from the DR as opposed to their Nicaraguan portfolio. This release is in the medium to medium plus strength, full bodied, full flavor profile.

The Big Sky Blackfoot starts off with minimal spice, followed by an enriched sweetness of cocoa, earth, espresso, and light honey. The sweetness for the Dominican filler definitely comes through, with that added tone of earth. Toward the end of it a savory, almost bbq note takes the forefront. I hate the word smooth, but I find a satisfying smoothness in the consistency of this cigar. The strength is very pleasant and not at any time overwhelming. This, to me, is a late-night, dessert cigar. I would suggest a little dark chocolate and maybe a port to accompany it!
