Foundation Metapa Maduro and Claro

Nick Melillo of Foundation Cigars is back with another winner to add to his cigar portfolio. Last year, he released the highly sought after Olmec Maduro and Olmec Claro. Using high primings of San Andres for the wrapper, the blend was manufactured at AJ Fernandez’s factory in Nicaragua. This year, her returns with another duo, the Foundation Metapa Maduro and Metapa Claro. These cigars, like Olmec, are also crafted by AJ, and are crafted in similar, box pressed sizes: Corona Gorda, Robusto, Toro, and Corona Doble. Where does the name come from? As usual, it is heavily rooted in history and the culture of Nicaragua.

Nick Melillo says, “Metapa is a tribute to the poetic soul of Nicaragua. The image of Rubén Darío is iconic; he is considered one of the greatest poets in the Spanish language. I have always wanted to make a brand in his honor, and I have always wanted to introduce a blend around Sumatra Ecuador wrapper. Metapa is the result. This blend is unique and unlike anything I have ever created. The CT Broadleaf binder adds a bit of sweetness, Nicaragua filler the body and strength, and the wrapper is the icing on the cake.“

The blend for Foundation Metapa is a beautiful looking Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, over a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and fillers from Jalapa and Esteli in Nicaragua. All cigars are shipped in easily accessible ten count boxes. Metapa is currently available at OGT Cigars, all be it in short supply. Foundation is always trying new things and innovating incredible new projects. I am excited to see this amazing portfolio grow.
