Big Sky Cigars is that brand that more people need to know about. Brandon Marsh and Jess Coleman were Montana were they operated a retail store. Later, they launched their company, Big Sky Cigars, a Nicaraguan-based premium line. Their portfolio consists of cigars named after famous rivers, with tobaccos highlighting Habano, San Andres, and Connecticut Shade. The newest blend has just landed, and it, like its other counterparts, is named after a water landmark. Introducing the Big Sky Blackfoot Toro.
Much like the Bitterroot Habano in their portfolio, the Blackfoot is a 6×54 Toro. It boasts a dark San Andres Maduro wrapper over a binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic. This time, Big Sky took a turn and had it sourced from the DR and blended by renowned cigar maker Chico Rivas. The newest release is in the medium strength, full bodied, full flavor profile. This is a regular production line in the portfolio and is on the more expensive side. However, once you smoke this cigar, you will understand why.
The Big Sky Blackfoot starts off with minimal spice, followed by an enriched sweetness of cocoa, earth, wood, and light honey. The sweetness for the Dominican filler definitely comes through, with that added tone of earth. I hate the word smooth, but I find a satisfying smoothness in the consistency of this cigar. The strength is very pleasant and not at any time overwhelming. This, to me, is a late-night, dessert cigar. I would suggest a little dark chocolate and maybe a port to accompany it!
