For years, Black Label Trading has produced heavy-hitting, Nicaraguan blends, both complex and on the stronger side. I say years, but in fact, it has been a decade. From limited cigars like the Morphine and Bishop’s Blend to the core line, Last Rites and Lawless, BLTC and Black Works Studio are among my favorite brands for that rich, fuller-bodied Nicaraguan experience. Adding to their line is a VERY limited anniversary cigar, one I have spoken of before; the Black Label Trading 10th Anniversary La Madonna Negra.
This is one of the rare occasions when we see BLTC using a Connecticut Broadleaf Wrapper. I have always been a fan of Broadleaf, and I think that’s why I am so excited about this newest release. Most common Black Label will use an Ecuadorian Maduro wrapper; in fact, I feel like they have that tobacco mastered in their cigars. Blends like the Barrio Santo, Lizard King, Last Rites, Killer Bee, and the Hornet all use it. La Madonna Negra is one of the few cigars from the Oveja Negra Fabrica that uses a Broadleaf. The binder is from Ecuador, and the fillers are a combination of Nicaraguan and Pennsylvania. According to James Brown, he says, “It’s bold, as a BLTC cigar should be, but, it’s also very refined and elegant. It has layers of complexity and a very unique profile. A mixture of different spice elements combines with aromatic floral notes to create something unexpected. I’m very proud of the result.”
Black Label Trading La Madonna Negra 10th Anniversary just opened for ordering! You can place your order here at Oak Glen Tobacconist. Unfortunately, it is a very limited, allocated product. Just like all BLTC and BLK WRKS limited runs, once it is gone, it’s gone forever. Available in all three sizes, Rothchild, Robusto, and Corona Gorda, the new Madonna is the perfect celebratory cigar, commemorating a decade of excellence.
