What once started as an event-only cigar now has a new size! It is no secret the Foundation Cigar Menelik is a favorite here at OGT. In fact, the original Menelik cigar won the number four slot for cigar of the year in 2020 for Oak Glen Tobacconist. It was also the first cigar we ever held a tasting event with. Originally, Menelik was only obtainable at Foundation visits, a special event-only cigar. However, it grew somewhat of a cult following and was added to the company’s portfolio. The Menelik is has a dynamic visual presence as well as flavor. Nick Melillo, owner and blender of Foundation Cigars, states the following about his passion project:
“Foundation Cigars offer limited quarterly production sizes to specially select tobacconists worldwide. These sizes come in unique boxes and packaging to complement the core portfolio. In addition, they are allocated to accounts that support all of the Foundation’s brands. The newest to the Menelik line is the 6×52 Toro. Additionally, Menelik has a San Andres Wrapper, Corojo 99 binder & Nicaragua filler. The Menelik also translates to son of the Wise Man.”
The most common feedback someone would give about the original Menelik was that the cigar was amazing, but they hoped it was a bit longer. Well, you got your wish. This new 6×52 toro lends itself to a more substantial smoke and offers many things people love about the original. The Menelik Toro is a great addition to the Foundation Cigar Company’s lineup, available only at select accounts and in beautiful twelve-count boxes.
