Lalibela Lancero by Black Star Line Cigars

Black Star Line Cigars has added to their portfolio but in the form of a smaller ring gauge. Among their blends like the War Witch Connecticut or the Dark War Witch that uses Aganorsa Corojo 99, lies their heavy hitting strong Maduro called Lalibela. Lalibela is a dark, oily San Andres wrapped cigar with binders and filler from Nicaragua. Previously, Lalibela was only available in two sizes, a Toro and 6×60 Gordo. The blend lends itself pretty well to both these sizes, offering a full bodied, medium plus to full strength smoke with notes of dark, almost bitter chocolate, earth, raisins, pepper on the retro, and lingering sweetness.

A few months back, Black Star Line Cigars added to their portfolio by adding another size to the Lalibela line, a 7.5×40 Lancero. After enjoying this new vitola, I almost lean toward this Lancero over the original interpretation. The worry when it comes to Lanceros is always construction. Will it burn? Will it be plugged on the draw? The list goes on. However, my experience with the Lalibela Lancero set me at ease with a perfect draw and a very good burn rate. As we know, smaller ring gauges give a richer wrapper taste to the cigar. The sweetness from the San Andres Maduro really shined through the blend, and instead of dark Chocolate, I was experiencing more sweet, milky chocolate, ginger or cinnamon spice on the retro, and lingering skinned almonds on the palate. Overall, this cigar offered a lot!

I reviewed it on our Youtube channel for our ‘One Smokers Palate’ vlog and it scored the highest out of the seven different San Andres cigars so far! I tend to score things VERY conservatively and it ended up with an 85. All in all, the Lalibela Lancero Cigar is a definite MUST TRY and offers complexity as well as full flavor, full body, and about medium plus in strength. My hat is off to you Black Star Line Cigars.
