The LCA plus cigar for June 2022 has landed! Chico Rivas is at it again with his release through Privada Cigar Club and LCA. The last time we saw something from Chico in the LCA was the ‘From Chico’ stick. A beautifully complex cigar that sported a platinum blond in a bikini pointing a revolver at the smoker. Now, Privada has teamed up with Mr. Rivas to produce the 1491. Brian Desind of Privada Cigar Club released the following statement on the 1491 cigar.
“Crafted by Dominican master blender Chico Rivas, 1491 is a puro that honors the great history
of tobacco. 1491 consists entirely of the highest grade indigenous Dominican corojo-seed
tobaccos. This is not a blend. Rather, this cigar is an opportunity to experience native Dominican
tobacco in its purest form. This is tobacco as the Taino Indians of the Caribbean would have
known it before Columbus arrived to the Americas in 1492. To smoke 1491 is to share an
experience with peoples who lived centuries and millennia ago – the peoples who were the first
ever to cultivate tobacco from the Earth and to whom we are indebted for the pleasure and joy
we all share in smoking cigars today. 1491 is a 6×50 toro rolled at Manufactura Rivas.”
If there is anything we know about Chico’s blending style, it’s that he likes that full flavored, medium strength, complex realm. 1491 promises to be all those things. Most interesting of all, this is not just a puro from the Dominican, it is a puro in all senses of the word! It uses 100% Dominican Corojo seed. The whole thing! I can’t wait to share this truly unique cigar with all of you. Enjoy.
