Subterraneo Cigars from Privada Cigar Club and AJ Fernandez

There is great excitement, buzz, and maybe even confusion surrounding the set of cigars known as Subterrneo. Aside from the knee-jerk reaction of “Gotta catch them all” there is an intricate legend behind these sticks, as well as a master blender. Here is a brief breakdown: It harkens back to a local legend in Central America, a legend underground. Brian Desind released this breakdown.

The Legend “By 300 B.C.E, the forces that created Mayan culture had already morphed into legends. Believed by the Mayans to have been gods, these beings were anything but. In reality, they were life forms from extraterrestrial planets. Their kind could only stand being in earth’s atmosphere for a few days at a time before having to return to their ships. They possessed many assets that could have been valuable for earth’s civilization, but the inability to communicate ended the possibility of widespread cultivation of these ideas. During this time, subspecies from other planets that were able to withstand earth’s atmosphere indefinitely were brought to the planet to breed with humans and create hybridized alien human beings to oversee, rule and execute orders for their owners remotely. What happened in the next century, sometime between 1100 B.C.E and 900 B.C.E would leave these hybrid beings stranded, without people to rule or to serve. This is how Subterraneo formed. Unable to reproduce or die, these 14 beings lived underground, close to the earth’s core, feeding from and adding to the nutrient levels of the earth’s soil. Sightings of these more-than-human beings living in the hot magma of earth’s core were interpreted into images and rumors of hell.”

The Blender There is the folklore behind Subterraneo. Now, what makes these cigars so special? Each cigar is a Nicaraguan puro, blended by the legend himself, Mr. AJ Fernandez. Each cigar is crafted with his expertise, utilizing his special skill with tobaccos he has released in the past and several that are hybrid seeds. Thursday, May 5th at 9pm CA time/ 12am est OGT is releasing three blends during OGT at Midnight. Along with the LCA BBQ Pig, get ready for the Hydrar, Cuprumapo, and Kaliumcolel. Hydrar or Badger is a 5.5×60 Hybrid Maduro blend, medium-plus in strength. Cuprumapo also called Red Fang, is a 6×56 Habano Maduro, medium-plus to full, and incredibly complex in flavor. And finally, Kaliumcolel or Green Fang is a 6×46 Sungrown Habano, medium to Medium Plus strength and reminiscent of AJ’s Dias de Gloria blend in his core line.
