There’s a mouthful.
For me, one of the more interesting journeys in the cigar world is the search for a flavorful Connecticut cigar. I am not trying to throw ‘shade’, no pun intended, on Connecticut-wrapped cigars. In fact, I have found a number that I really do enjoy. The process of shade grown Connecticut is the growing of the tobacco under a cheesecloth to filter the strength of the sun. The most common Connecticut wrapper is found in Ecuador due to the cloud coverage that accomplishes the filtration process naturally. This causes a very smooth and sweet smoking experience. As I stated, I have found some very enjoyable Connecticut cigars that tend to start the day off beautifully. However, sometimes I find Connecticut shade-grown tobacco to be whispy, airy, and downright like a smoking newspaper.
With that said, once in a while, I find that special sweet, creamy, perhaps even nutty, Connecticut cigar that I absolutely enjoy. I found this in the Aganorsa Leaf Connecticut and find myself going back to it fairly often. Not to mention if it’s a coffee and cigar type of day. The Aganorsa Connecticut uses a beautiful, almost seamless Connecticut wrapper over rich Nicaraguan binder and fillers. This cigar is also box-pressed, which holds a special place for me. The result is a mild, edging to medium strength, full-flavored, and medium-plus body.
The Aganorsa Leaf Connecticut has notes of almonds, cream, light oak, lingering sweetness, and hints of light, white pepper. The pepper, as I say, is faint, just a hint on the finish. Overall it offers a very well-rounded smoke, and I enjoy the fuller body in a light-wrapped cigar. My hat is off to Aganorsa Leaf, and their accomplishment in their Connecticut cigar.
