Each year, Matt Booth creates an Anniversary stick to commemorate his time in the industry under his company’s name Room 101. We have seen a number of fantastic blends in his Anniversary portfolio, however, none perhaps as rich and strong as his latest 12th Anniversary toro. It’s no secret Matt Booth likes to work with AJ Fernandez, and when he does, we see the magic happen. The 12th Anniversary is no exception. Much of the blend composition is somewhat undisclosed aside from it being a Nicaraguan Puro.
The wrapper itself is rustic looking with dark veins, and a nearly black espresso appearance. This sets off his choice of teal, nearly mint, coloring for his band, tying the presentation together beautifully. As mentioned before, the binder and fillers of this cigar also hail from Nicaragua. The vitola is a 6 x 52 toro, sticking close to his traditional Anniversary size. In the case of the previous two commemorative cigars, he had produced only 500 boxes of each, a total production of 10,000 cigars. This time around he has only made enough to fulfill orders. How much is that number? It is uncertain. What is certain, is that this cigar is fantastic.
If you are a fan of Matt Booth or AJ or both, this is a must try. The blend lands in the medium plus to full strength and full-body side of things. Flavor notes are dark chocolate, raisin, earth, and light pepper.
