Casa Cuevas has released a new cigar for 2021. After a lengthy start, I am proud to introduce the new Casa Cuevas Patrimonio! This is truly a unique offering, and even more unique for the Cuevas Family. The majority of their blends utilize Habano, San Andreas, and Connecticut wrappers. The signature of Cuevas is a mild to medium strength and full in flavor combination. However, this new release is different in many ways. And in my humble opinion, an excellent addition to the line.
The Casa Cuevas Patrimonio utilizes a rich, oily Honduran Corojo wrapper teeming with sweetness and earth. Underneath the wrap is an Ecuador Habano Binder with fillers from Peru, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. The result is a complex smoke with many transitions. Not only do you taste the changes in the 1st, 2nd, and final 3rd from the flavors, but also there is a significant strength change as you smoke it. Luis Cuevas, the owner and blender of the Patrimonio, was quoted to say that his newest offering is, “A definite Creeper.” This refers to the strength change. What might seem like an even, medium smoke at the beginning, ramps up to have a stronger kick the further you smoke it.
The Patrimonio offers brilliant notes of Sweetness, nuttiness, earth, wood, and cream, with hints of pepper dashed here and there. This is truly a highlight of 2021.
