Cigar Clowns King of Clowns Toro

One of the most treasured cigar companies at Oak Glen Tobacconist is Cigar Clowns. They have been featured more than any other cigar brand in the OGT Cigar Society. Among their limited micro-drops throughout the year, they have a pretty fascinating core line. Within their portfolio are the Cigar Clowns Rodeo Clown (Voted #3 OGT Cigar of the Year 2024), Cigar Clowns Geppetto Toro, and the prestigious Mexican San Andres Maduro King of Clowns. The King is definitely a unique one, from flavor to strength, this cigar sets itself apart from the rest. Originally, it was released in a 6×52 Torpedo and featured in the membership. It has returned. However, this time, it is a 6×50 Toro. While many of the Cigar Clowns cigars are pronounced in body and strength, this one is somewhat more subtle and reserved while delivering a full palate of flavor.

The Cigar Clowns King of Clowns has much undisclosed about it, like the binder and fillers, but we do know it’s produced in the Dominican Republic. The cigar itself is packaged in beautiful 11-count ‘Clown’ boxes. The flavor transitions in this cigar are wild; the cold draw offers a clear picture of garden soil and floral hints. On light up, white pepper is dominant with touches of sweetness, earth, and mossy oak. The sweetness continues with toasted cashews, marshmallows, and smoky woods. Earth and dark roast coffee weave in and out. Overall, I love the transitions and lingering sweetness throughout this stick. The garden soil aspect, coupled with the pronounced marshmallow and smoked wood, really create a diverse set of notes, ones you don’t normally experience in other cigars.

The Cigar Clowns King of Clowns wrapper leaf is a mid-dark San Andres Maduro. Its texture and shade catch the eye and hint at the sweet warmth of its flavor profile. While the original Torpedo size was 6×54, the thinner ring of the Toro enriches the experience like most blends. Cigar Clowns is a brand that deserves to be smoked, and each of their recent cigars offers its own intense experience. While there are many different boutique brands out there, Cigar Clowns has been a go-to from the beginning, and the fire they have been putting out recently solidifies their brand.
