OGT Cigar Society Drops Club Exclusive Year Of The Nope Rope Lancero 7×40

OGT Cigar Society is mailing out the latest exclusive project tomorrow, January 22nd, to all Society members! This year’s installment of the OGT Lunar Series showcases a sort of ‘tongue-and-cheek’ take on the Year of the Snake. I think it’s due to the many, and I mean many, releases throughout the cigar industry that bear that name. The comical naming started last year when we released the Year of the Smokey Lizard, instead of year of the Dragon. The Smokey Lizard featured a beautiful Habano 2000 wrapper over Nicaraguan Binder and Fillers. It was released in one size, a 6×52 Parejo Toro. Voted on by all our community, the Lizard made OGT #9 on the Cigar of the Year list for 2024. We return at the start of January 2025 with Year of the Nope Rope.

This cigar is very special to me. By way of following the OGT Lunar Series style, the label combines retro illustrations set against a noir, synth-wave gradient. My wife Mallory designed last year’s label and it was only fitting to have her create this one. I think she knocked it out of the park! OGT Year of the Nope Rope features a Habano 2000 as well. Underneath is a binder from Nicaragua and fillers both from Jalapa and Esteli Nicaragua. Also in tradition to the first drop, the maker of this cigar is undisclosed, adding to the allure of its composition. What I can say is the blender wanted to pass on their remarks and say, “You can’t hide behind a Lancero. It’s the blend’s truest form. You have so little you are working with in such a small gauge, know what I mean?”

I have constantly been going back to this cigar ever since we first tried it last summer. This is the first custom Lancero we have released in the OGT Cigar Society, which is due largely to the fact that it’s not the most popular size. I think people miss out when they don’t give Lanceros the time they deserve. It’s sort of known as the Cigar Nerd’s choice. The wrapper to filler ratio are so dramatic that it dials the flavor way up from a larger ring gauge, and you get all that juicy Habano 2000 goodness. While Year of the Smokey Lizard will always hold a special place in my heart, Nope Rope takes the cake. The flavor, body, and smoke are dynamic. In terms of flavor notes, Nope Rope delivers a healthy portion of black pepper with toasted nuttiness, cream, baking spice, sweetness, and a minty texture. I love it!

I am so excited to share this new project with all of our OGT Society community. I think we have something truly special here, and it’s the first exclusive Lancero we have offered! While there aren’t many spots open, we do have a few if you would like to Join OGT CIGAR SOCIETY membership. I encourage you, if you are not a member already, to check out this month’s special release. This Habano 2000 really delivers, and I am only sad it’s a limited run. For under nine dollars a cigar, this is a perfect blend to enjoy without breaking the bank.

Thank you for all the support to our shop and the community. Get ready one and all for the OGT Cigar Society Year of the Nope Rope Lancero!
