Oak Glen Tobacconist Launches Second Craft Series Featuring Ecuadorian and Nicaraguan Habanos

It’s more than just a sample pack; it’s an experience.

Here at Oak Glen Tobacconist, Education is always at the forefront. The launch of the Oak Glen Tobacconist Craft Series is meant to dive deeper in the artistry behind cigars. A few months back we dropped the official launch, highlighting Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco. The Craft Series returns with a new spotlight on the Habano leaf, specifically from Ecuador and Nicaragua. I highly recommend this for anyone’s cigar journey. This curated sampler includes five blends that showcase Habano leaf from various cigar makers. By taking the time to go through each, I hope the experience will teach you about the nature of the tobacco and how is can vary depending on where it is grown, where it is produced, and who blended it. But that is not all! I have also included an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 Ligero single-leaf tasting fuma to smoke by itself. Learn the inherent flavor, consistency, and texture of the leaf.

The Fuma and the Stallone Alazan Habano Toro, included in the sampler, were supplied by master blender Tony Barrios of Stallone Cigars. Tony says, “Ecuadorian Habano has a sweet, nutty (peanut like), spicy, complex, and dynamic flavor. A fair amount of pepper. Its texture is dense, with a reddish brown color.” Smoking the fuma will help your palate register these notes.

Along with the five cigars and single fuma is our exclusive OGT tasting Wheel. This will hopefully assist you in picking out flavor notes. From references ranging from spices, herbs, fruits, floral notes, coffee, and beyond, the chart helps you identify specific notes while you enjoy the cigar. Along with our wheel is our historical reference card that includes quotes from blenders, information on the tobacco, and a QR code that will direct you to each blend and what they are. When you scan the code, you will get info on the wrapper, binder, filler, factory, and even who blended each cigar.

This is our second Craft Series release; the Craft Series: Heart of Habano. I love Habano tobacco; it’s history and how it has evolved through time. Habano is revered by so many blenders and is usually at the top of many lists. To make this pack extra special, I have included an unreleased project cigar we have crafted from a small factory in Nicaragua. This is a rustic but elegant 7×40 Habano Lancero. This cigar will later make it’s debut as a limited shop exclusive. I thought it would be awesome for people to have the opportunity to try it before the official drop! This is sort of an organic way to see a glimpse of the blending process.
