Black Star Line Marun OGT Custom drops Thursday June 13th at 7pm pst/10pm!!

Black Star Line Cigars is celebrating their 5th anniversary in the cigar business. For this momentous occasion, they have partnered with Espinosa Cigars to bring a very special blend to their portfolio. Introducing Black Star Line Marun, a Sumatra blend brimming with flavor and transitional complexity. The name comes from the Yoruba language in Nigeria. The blend was worked closely with Espinosa Cigars. Owner of Black Star Line Cigar Aric Bey says, “It was great working with Hector Alfonso, the master blender at La Zona. He is a wealth of knowledge and taught me and my team some new things.”

The cigar is set to release in two sizes, and one of those sizes is exclusive through Oak Glen Tobacconist. Each month we strive to bring excellence and quality to the OGT Cigar Society. For every member, we send a 5 pack of an exclusive, awesome blend, and this month is no exception. The custom vitola of Black Star Line Marun is a 6.5×48 soft box press. Wrapped in a smooth Sumatra wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and fillers, the Marun is crafted at the La Zona facotry in Estelí, Nicaragua. When Aric and I started the project we spoke about several different sizes, however, I felt the richness and flavor would blossom in a ‘thinner’ box press format. However, 48 isn’t that small, and the extra half inch really enhances the smoking duration.

As soon as you light this incredible 6.5×48 you get intense notes of black pepper spice, wood, and leather. This moves into medium roast coffee, ginger snap, a touch more spice, cedar, and medium sweetness. The spotlight of flavor transitions really shines through the thirds. One minute you have a peppery, cedar flavor that moves into baking spice, coffee, and sweetness. I love it.

This cigar is simply too good, so we have also opened the opportunity to try it outside the society. The Black Star Line Marun OGT custom is a very small production, and most of it is claimed for the OGT Cigar society, however, there are two ways to try it! You can join the membership for this month to guarantee you a five pack, which will be mailed out on the 22nd of June or look for it dropping this weekend!
