The votes are in! By a decent sized margin, Stallone Cigars has taken the number one slot as the 2023 Cigar of the Year at Oak Glen Tobacconist. Each year, people around the nation send in votes via instagram, facebook, email, and even in-person ballot. The whole community votes on their favorite cigars they acquired from the OGT humidor this year, by listing their #1, #2, and #3 picks. Each slot is worth a certain amount of points. We tally it all up, the cigar with the most points takes the number one place! This year, that cigar is the Stallone OGT IV Aniversario. Crafted by Owner and Blender Tony Barrios, this unique blend offers an exceptional smoking experience, both consistent and complex.
The cigar is a 6×54 Toro featuring a very toothy, textured San Andres wrapper. Underneath lies a double binder from Condega and Jalapa and fillers from Esteli, Condega, and Jalapa. Those fillers include several five year aged ligeros, packed with flavor and little kick of strength. Tony says, “This special blend has Criollo 98, Corojo 99, Corojo 2012, and Habano 2000 Seeds. All from Nicaragua, aged 5 years before rolling, and the cigar about 22 months of aging after rolled. I used only 100% premium aged tobacco in this blend.”
After resting for nearly two years, this Stallone cigar has reached an optimum smoking experience. Altogether, this creates a deep and balanced smoke with intense flavors of espresso and leather intertwined with a touch of spice up front. Following are transitions of dark cocoa, woods, earth, and a faint caramel sweetness. This is delivered through a current of balanced, rich smoke and a clean aged finish. Dried fruits, toasted almonds, and more cocoa follow.
I am very happy for Tony and the recognition he deserves with this cigar. Thank you everyone for contributing to the OGT community this year! If you haven’t tried our OGT cigar of the year yet, I highly encourage you to pick up a five pack or bundle and learn for yourself why this cigar was voted the cigar of the year, and experience the excellence of Stallone Cigars.
