Black Label Trading has a very distinct and eye-catching branding style. It’s often said that Black Label Trading Cigars and Black Works Studio is a lifestyle brand. Once you smoke a cigar made at Oveja Negra Factory in Nicaragua, it’s easy to fall into that mode. A favorite from their portfolio was recently added earlier this year. What started as a limited cigar and now found in their core-line is the Black Label Trading Santa Muetre. The flavors on this cigar are rich, full, and incredibly balanced. The Santa Muerte features a neutral colored Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. When it was released earlier this year, Owner and Blender James Brown stated the following:
“This is a great addition to our core-line. It was last released in 2018 as a limited release and we have had many requests for its return. We revamped the artwork giving it a white background with added silver details in a white box. It’s a medium bodied cigar with a Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. It features six filler tobaccos which create a very unique and rich flavor profile. You experience layer upon layer of coffee, malt, spice and cocoa.”
On light up, that spice and light sweetness is instant. No warm up time or waiting for flavor to kick in happens. Buckle up because the cigar is alive and ready! Notes of toasted barley, muted cream, medium roast coffee, and sandalwood soon follow. While the flavors transition, there is an underlining sweetness the stays constant. While the spice takes a back seat it compliments the blend well. If I had a choice on what to pair it with, I would go with a black coffee. Released in three sizes; a Corona Gorda, Short Robusto, and Petite Lancero, I think the Corona and Lancero are my top picks. Black Label Trading Santa Muerte is an amazing addition to the portfolio and rivals many other Ecuadorian Habano cigars on the market.
