Black Works Studio Ambush, all three Tigers.

It is no secret Black Works Studio has a flare for art and presentation. From the Killer Bee, the Hornet, Lizard King, and even limited editions like Poison Dart and Hyena, the portfolio is packed with intricate blends, stunning art works, and amazing flavor. Within the lineup, and perhaps the most rare, is the Neon Tiger Series. Boasting three different types, the line has the Neon Tiger Candela, the Tiger Lilly Connecticut, and Khan Maduro. Each blend is a three-leaf-wrapped barber pole with one leaf in particular more dominant. The full set of tigers was released earlier this year, in a box named the Ambush.

According to James Brown, owner and blender of Oveja Negra Fabrica in Nicaragua, he says, “Given the popularity of our Tiger Series in 2022 we wanted to continue to feature these cigars at BLK WKS events. Ambush is a collection of the Neon Tiger, Khan and Tiger Lily cigars, released as event only boxes in very limited quantities.  These cigars represent the artisanal qualities of cigar making. Not only do they highlight the artistic abilities of our rollers but the blends are extremely unique and complex. I wanted to offer something special for our retailers who support us with events and these cigars do just that.”

Basically to get a hold of ALL three Tigers, they are usually event only. Here at Oak Glen Tobacconist, we dub it a ‘Neon Tiger Sighting’ when we are fortunate to have them come around. It is most rare to find all three in one place. James isn’t lying when he says the cigars are extremely complex. Each blend offers something unique in its smoking experience, and oddly enough, I find the Candela Neon Tiger one of my favorites. I am usually not the biggest fan of Candela, but this cigar blows others out of the water from its grassy, creamy sweetness to the depth of woods, earth, and brulee transitions.
