The newest line to hit the market from Aganorsa Leaf is being sent out now, the Aganorsa Rare Leaf Maduro. Much like its original Natural version, the Rare Leaf Maduro is available to select Aganorsa accounts only. Featuring a silky San Andres wrapper, the makeup of the Maduro is similar to the original. Leaning heavily into the Criollo 98 side of Aganorsa Tobacco, the flavors are subtle but packed with a punch. As stated in a previous blog, the Rare Leaf Maduro is released in three sizes; 5.25×54 Robusto, 6×52 Belicoso, and 6×54 Toro. I am a fan of favorite blends having a Maduro version added to them, especially ones as chocolaty as this one.
According to Terence Rielly of Aganorsa, he says, “When we launched Rare Leaf in 2021, the idea was to provide our retail partners who make the commitment to our Aganorsa Select Program with a special blend they would have exclusivity on. Due to the success of the original release, we are adding Rare Leaf Maduro, a truly powerful expression of Aganorsa tobacco and one I haven’t experienced before. This blend will make you sit up and pay attention while smoking or, as we say at Aganorsa, validating.”
“The original Aganorsa Rare Leaf is Cuban-seed Criollo 98 dominant and bursting with spice, earth, and a touch of sweetness, Rare Leaf utilizes tobaccos which are selected from special lots on our best farms.” In terms of differences, the Rare Leaf Maduro adds a deeper side of flavors like cocoa, mesquite wood, white pepper, and the most dominant, toasted marshmallow sweetness. As usual, I am impressed with the quality and complexity Aganorsa Leaf brings to the table, and their newest Maduro blend is another one that demonstrates the dynamic range of their blending.
