Winner of the OGT Cigar of the Year 2021, this Barberpole has been the staple at OGT since the beginning! Rolled at the Placensia factory in Nicaragua, Liga Zebra uses a complex blend of Honduran, Dominican, and Nicaraguan tobaccos. Liga Zebra is one of five blends from American Viking Cigars, which is owned and operated by Tim Swanson of Cigars Daily. The entire American Viking Cigar line is known for its strong flavor and complexity with a medium body profile. The Liga Zebra is no exception. Released in three sizes, Robusto, Toro, and Gordo, the Zebra has a dual wrapper of Connecticut and Nicaraguan Habano.
Plasencia Cigars always deliver in quality and flavor; in the case of Liga Zebra, the proof is in the pudding. Sometimes the risk you run with Barberbpole-wrapped cigars having burn issues. And while it is a handmade product, Liga Zebra outperforms many other barberpoles on the market! As Tim Swanson puts it, “This blend achieves perfect smoothness in the midst of amazing flavor. Smoke this to find a balanced flavor profile with Spanish Cedar, Peanuts, Almonds notes, and a sweet earthiness from the wrapper leaf.”
In terms of pairings, I would say coffee, coffee, coffee. This works incredibly with the creaminess and smoothness of the blend. Perhaps a sweet tea would work during the summer, and even a pastry, maybe an apple turnover (I’ve tried that, and it worked!) Liga Zebra is a difficult cigar to get a hold of, but finally, they are back in stock at OGT and available while they last!
