HVC has a new cigar on the block. One of my favorite lines this brand has released is the Havana City Maduro. Using a very textured, toothy wrapper, the Havana City is a whirlwind of flavor from cocoa, pepper, wood, and earth. So naturally, when he announced the Habano version, I was very excited. Released in the same sizes as the Maduro, the Natural is Reinier Lorenzo’s newest cigar on the market. Rolled at his new Factory in Nicaragua, these two blends show another side of Lorenzo’s blending style.
Reiner stated the following about his new factory: “I went to the old classic Cuban style. I will never forget where I came from Havana City and also, I don’t want, later in life, to regret not opening my own cigar factory.” And how these blends turned out, I am so happy he did.
The HVC Havana City Natural is wrapped with a Habano 92 seed grown in Ecuador over Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Esteli and Jalapa. On light up, there is a definite spice, peppery and sweet, with waves of wood, gingersnap cookie, light caramel, toasted bread, and changing sweetness. I assumed it was going to lean on the lighter side, but honestly, I would say it is a solid medium, perhaps medium full. I paired it with a coffee, lightly creamed, but I now want to attempt a Whistle Pig 10 or perhaps Yellowstone Bourbon. Once again, Reinier knocked it out of the park with this one, and for any HVC fan I think this is a must try!
