There are limited cigars from very small companies I would put in the category of small batch runs. Then there are companies like the size of Stallone Cigars who do limited runs like the Clydesdale Broadleaf, only 1000 boxes made. Beyond limited, there is ultra limited, and that’s what Stallone’s newest blend Nino is. The production of the Nino cigar is 250 boxes total, which translates to only 5000 cigars! Why produce so little you may ask? At least that was my question to Tony Barrios at the 2022 PCA trade show.
“In the filler you are going to find Ometepe. Ometepe is very sweet tobacco that can sometimes be overshadowed by a stronger wrapper leaf. It is grown on the island of Ometepe in Nicaragua. The tobacco is found between two volcanos. The soil gives the tobacco a very unique flavor. I took the Ometepe and aged it in oak barrels for seven years. I only have enough tobacco for the limited production.”
The Nino is one of Tony’s most unique cigars he has crafted. For the most part, Stallone produces bold strength balanced with subtle flavor. The Nino is more medium in strength, and full in body and flavor. The retro is the smoothest of his blends, the sweetness from that Ometepe tobacco translates perfectly with Habano / Sumatra hybrid wrapper leaf. When I had the pleasure of smoking it I paired it with an espresso and the duo was nothing short of amazing.
The Nino has only been released in one size; a 6.25×48 corona. Stallone’s newest blend will be available at Oak Glen Tobacconist next week, and there is little need for me to say it is in limited supply. OGT will also be showcasing it at the Stallone event next week on Sunday, July 24th at 4pm. Don’t miss this one-and-done blend from Tony Barrios and Stallone cigars. It truly demonstrates the versatility of Stallone cigars and is unlike his previous blends.
